Where Can You Buy Thiblu Shaved Roast Beef

An quondam, love recipe the moms used to make in our youth group. They'd make a ton (50 or so) sandwiches at a time and keep them in the fridge, then pop 'em in the oven when they needed to feed u.s.a.. Delicious!

When I was growing up, I participated in my Episcopal church's youth group, and I have lots of memories of weekly meetings where nosotros did things like:

one. Encounter how many marshmallows we could shove into our mouths (I'g not sure how one of us didn't choke).

2. Play the "Ha" game: You lot prevarication on your dorsum with your head resting on the stomach of the person side by side to you lot, then their head rests on the stomach of the person next to them, etc. Then you alternate saying "Ha," except with each person's turn they add together an boosted "Ha." And then the start person says "Ha." Then the second person says "Ha ha." And so the third person says "Ha ha ha" and then on. You go along going, and the object of the game is to exist the terminal one that doesn't crevice up, and this is very difficult.

3. Learn nigh the love of God. Youth groups are skilful like that!

Another matter I recall about my youth group days is eating. A lot. Everything from pizza to Cheetos and everything in between. But one of my favorite food memories are the hot ham sandwiches the youth group moms used to make. I remember seeing them working in the kitchen, assembling what seemed to be millions (and that was merely my share) of individual foil-wrapped sandwiches that eventually made their way into the oven…and then into our mouths. They were succulent then and are delicious at present, and are a great affair to make ahead of time and continue in the fridge (or freezer, in the case of the youth group moms, if I remember correctly) until you need to pop them in the oven.

Hither's how to brand them! I used more often than not roast beef this time (the original uses ham) and slightly messed with the dressing, but the basic components are the aforementioned as the original.

Y'all need some shaved roast beefiness.

Image (2) 8552694093_7dc377c938_z.jpg for post 11056

And/or some ham. (I chose the "and" option.)

Image (3) 8552695163_c93c505eba_z.jpg for post 11056

You also need some buns. The youth group moms used regular hamburger buns, but I went for the smaller dinner rolls size. These are whole wheat…

Image (4) 8552695465_4f6e335bc7_z.jpg for post 11056

And these are lovely! I got 'em at The Wal Marts yesterday later our homeschool coop.

Image (5) 8553799990_3f5a0a9139_z.jpg for post 11056

You too need an onion…

Image (6) 8553797682_8680844feb_z.jpg for post 11056

Miscellaneous mustards (whatever kind you like) and, hopefully, some component of horseradish. You tin can use straight-up prepared horseradish, or you can go the horseradish mayo route. Either way, you want that feel-it-in-your-sinus quality.

Image (7) 8553799756_0de7d925b7_z.jpg for post 11056

Y'all also need some poppy seeds. Weird, but totally crawly!

Image (8) 8552696735_0364df1be5_z.jpg for post 11056

And provolone, Swiss, or whatever cheese you desire.

Image (9) 8552696115_9cf5f1a3fd_z.jpg for post 11056

This counts as cheese, in my pick. Live a little!

And finally, it really helps to have these individual foil sheets. Then much easier than tearing off the gyre.

The original recipe calls for grating an onion, which, if you go a fumy onion, can make you cry like a baby.

Image (12) 8552698389_b374fdc800_z.jpg for post 11056

Only it gives the sandwiches great flavor.

Image (13) 8553801880_6295363260_z.jpg for post 11056

I put the grated onion (you lot just need 2 or 3 tablespoons) on a paper towel…

Image (14) 8552699413_4da6a0aedc_z.jpg for post 11056

And squeezed a lot of the liquid out so information technology wouldn't exist too watery.

Image (15) 8553802476_3d6e670057_z.jpg for post 11056

And then it'southward fourth dimension to make the dressing: To the onion…

Image (16) 8552701115_8fc2661017_z.jpg for post 11056

I added some poppy seeds…

Image (17) 8552700565_dff5cac86c_z.jpg for post 11056

Some regular mayo…

Image (18) 8553803634_df350ecd45_z.jpg for post 11056

Some spicy mustard…

Image (19) 8552701449_41d694f6bd_z.jpg for post 11056

Some horseradish mayo…

Image (20) 8553804504_faf1e474e0_z.jpg for post 11056

(Not that you can but use straight-upwards prepared horseradish if you want a little more of a horseradish presence.)

Image (21) 8552702027_e1d1d706a8_z.jpg for post 11056

And why non? I added a little dear mustard, also.

In the printable recipe below, I call for a little Worcestershire, as I call back that would add a corking petty dash of savory goodness.

And hey, wouldn't Sriracha be succulent?

Image (22) 8552702753_8e86ef359f_z.jpg for post 11056

Mix it all together, then give it a taste and add more than of any you think it needs.

Then information technology's fourth dimension to get together the sandwiches!

Image (23) 8552703007_3b8f04f545_z.jpg for post 11056

Showtime by spreading the bun with the dressing (you can only do the bottom bun, or you lot can exercise both top and bottom)…

Image (24) 8553806004_9356c187ae_z.jpg for post 11056

Then add some of the meat (you lot tin can get thicker than this; this is a petty conservative!)

Image (25) 8552703849_c55973d879_z.jpg for post 11056

Then add a piece of cheese…

Image (26) 8553806790_17eea357d6_z.jpg for post 11056

And the summit bun.

Image (27) 8553807032_037f8af9d2_z.jpg for post 11056

Next, lay it upside downwards on a sail of foil…

Image (28) 8552704617_641c348912_z.jpg for post 11056

Fold in the corners…

Image (29) 8552705399_360307e4b0_z.jpg for post 11056

And information technology's practiced to get!

Image (30) 8553808974_e28d8dabf2_z.jpg for post 11056

You can do a million different variations. There's the ham version…

Image (31) 8553809728_6a8949f844_z.jpg for post 11056

The dark roll version…

Image (32) 8553810250_e58143567d_z.jpg for post 11056

Oh! And there's this version.

Image (33) 8552707751_7e0d1e2a59_z.jpg for post 11056

I'm doin' information technology…

Image (34) 8553810788_14479d41f6_z.jpg for post 11056

I'm doin' it…

Image (35) 8552708233_0c70808951_z.jpg for post 11056

I did it.

It was an accident!

Image (36) 8552709417_0ceb3835c5_z.jpg for post 11056

Yous can make these alee of time, and so whenever a kid in your house (or a grown-up, for that matter) needs a bite to eat, you lot can just throw as many in the oven as y'all need. The small size is squeamish, because then it can be either a snack or a meal.

Image (37) 8553811902_8fb85318bd_z.jpg for post 11056

You can even put them in storage containers and freeze them, which is good if yous're making them for a Lock-In or some big youth group event.

Practice Lock-Ins all the same take place, by the style?

I'k just…curious.

Image (38) 8553812454_3f783946ca_z.jpg for post 11056

So what you do is, you pop them into a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes. And when you have them out, the buns are slightly crusty and the fillings are just delectable and delightful. Ooey and gooey and yum.

Image (39) 8552709853_87b2016379_z.jpg for post 11056

Mmmmm. Reminds me of the youth grouping days!

Image (40) 8553813162_36e547a979_z.jpg for post 11056

Ham version.

Image (4) 8553813628_048bbd547b_z.jpg for post 5996

Cheez Whiz version. Loved this one!

Note: There are lots of different versions of this same sandwich, but my friend Kristen at Dine and Dish posted this version, which calls for spooning the dressing over the sandwich (rather than spreading it inside) before wrapping them in foil. I might try that next fourth dimension. Sounds yummy!

Take fun with these sandwiches, guys. They've stood the exam of time considering they're easy to throw together and are smashing for a crowd.

And virtually chiefly: Play the "Ha" game. At the earliest possible convenience. Your life will never be the aforementioned.

Here's the handy printable!
