New Line Cinema is presently developing a film adaption of the classic 1980's coin-op Rampage.

Unlike just about of the games getting the Hollywood treatment, Halfway Games' classic Violent disorder would actually add up on the big screen. The game was heavily inspired by the giant monster movies of the 50's, and the three playable characters were plain ersatz monster movie icons.

For those unfamiliar with the title, Rampage was free back in '86 and conspicuous a trio of monsters – two of which were quite obviously based on Godzilla and King Kong, respectively – smashing their path through urban environments, eating people, swatting helicopters, punching buildings to death and generally existence goliath variation douchebags. It had three histrion co op and it was glorious. Unluckily, the serial has fallen on severely times in Recent epoch geezerhood. The up-to-the-minute statute title, Rampage: Add together Destruction for the PS2 and Wii was different different flavors of awful.

The picture show, which will hopefully feature all kinds of lizard-on-building violence, is being "cleverly-budgeted" and will apparently have the same tone as Ghostbusters and Independence Day. The project is currently existence helmed by John Rickard, co-producer of films equal A nightmare on Elm Street, Final Destination and the recent Horrible Bosses.
